Requirement of RO plant-

Drinking Water Situation in Rural Maharashtra

In rural areas of Maharashtra, the primary water sources such as rivers, wells, lakes, and borewells are heavily contaminated. Sewage infiltration, extensive use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture, industrial pollutants, and toxic pesticides used in farming have made the water unsafe and hazardous for drinking. As a result, many villages face serious health issues due to consumption of contaminated water. Reported diseases include cholera, malaria, gastroenteritis, dehydration, diarrhea, kidney disorders, and various skin diseases.

Considering these challenges, Naam Foundation, with active community participation, has initiated efforts to ensure that every citizen receives clean and pure drinking water, which is their fundamental right. Based on the population of each village, appropriate RO (Reverse Osmosis) filtration plants are being installed through the Foundation. For these water stations, the required rooms or sheds are constructed with local community support, while the RO systems are provided by Naam Foundation.

To ensure sustainability, the system requires regular maintenance. For this purpose, a Water ATM facility is introduced, where villagers can access 20 liters of purified water for a nominal charge of ₹5. The collected funds are deposited with the Gram Panchayat, which uses them for maintenance, repairs, and other necessary expenses. This model ensures that the system continues to operate smoothly and reliably in the future.

To address this critical issue, the installation of a 1000 LPH Reverse Osmosis (RO) + UV system is essential. RO systems are highly effective in removing impurities, contaminants, and harmful substances from non-potable water, while UV treatment ensures microbial safety. Together, they provide clean, safe, and palatable drinking water. Such a system is suitable for households, community water stations, and commercial establishments, especially in areas with limited access to clean water. This initiative will directly contribute to improving public health and quality of life in the village.
