Through Naam Foundation, efforts are being made to address global warming and climate change. Water conservation work has a direct impact on these issues and has achieved significant success. Alongside water conservation, the foundation also undertakes large-scale tree plantation drives. In villages where water conservation projects have been implemented, awareness programs are conducted to educate villagers about the benefits of tree plantation, especially its positive impact on agriculture and water availability. Villagers are provided with saplings and entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing them.

This year, under the CSR fund of Smith Delection Systems Pvt. Ltd., 5,000 trees were planted in the Khadakwasla Dam area. For this initiative, 50 employees of the company contributed voluntary labor, and local farmers along with Naam Foundation volunteers also participated actively. The responsibility of maintaining and nurturing these 5,000 trees for the next three years lies with the foundation, which will provide water, fertilizers, and pesticides as required.

In addition to Khadakwasla, under the Naam Van Jeevan Project, thousands of trees were planted in several villages of Chiplun taluka in Konkan with the enthusiastic participation of villagers. Observing this work, many villages have already submitted requests to be included in the project next year.

Together with the Maharashtra Forest Department, tree plantation efforts were also carried out in the Marathwada region, specifically in Sambhajinagar, Latur, and Beed districts, where 10,000 trees were planted. For this project, Naam Foundation provided machinery for digging pits and also undertook the rejuvenation of local water sources. This work will continue annually through the joint efforts of the Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra, and Naam Foundation.

Under the “Silt-free Dam, Silt-enriched Farmland” scheme, wherever Naam Foundation worked on water sources, tree plantation was also carried out jointly by the Government of Maharashtra, Tata Motors, and Naam Foundation with active public participation. Villagers were given responsibility for nurturing the trees. In this program, the District Collector personally took initiative.

Altogether, nearly 50,000 trees have been planted across Maharashtra under these combined efforts.
